I have a ‘97 Civic with a stock sound system that just doesn’t cut it for what I’d like. I have an Alpine CDE-9843 deck I can use and I am looking at Infinity Kappa 3-ways (693.7i and 63.7i) for my speakers. What exactly does an amp do for me? Do I need one with RMS of 75W and 110W on the speakers and a max output of 4×45W from the deck? I listen to metal mostly, so sound quality is a must. Loudness is not really an issue, but also couldn’t hurt. Any advice and/or links to FAQ articles would be very much appreciated.

I don’t know too much about car audio so I need help figuring out what is good and what isn’t. I have a mitsubishi Galant 2000. I have the factory audio system and the sound gets distorted after turning it to a certain point. I went to best buy and this is what they recommended.

New Alpine rear and front speakers and Alpine deck 0
Alpine 12 in sub and Sony amp 0

Is it really THAT necessary to replace the stock speakers or can I get a pretty clear and decent sound with just the amp and sub?

Thanks
