It’s really impossible to say. Toyota’s premium sound system is JBL. Bose systems are used in lots and lots of different cars, including GM, Honda, Nissan, Audi, and lots of others. The design of the Bose audio systems is wildly different among all these different cars. So maybe the JBL system in his Highlander is better than the Bose systems in some cars, but not as good as the Bose system in others. Really, how do you compare them?

Anyway, a well-designed and well-installed after-market audio system will easily outperform the vast majority of “premium” OEM audio systems.
