Replace LCD on a Pioneer DEH-P3800MP Car Stereo Faceplate.

Broke my LCD display for a Pioneer Car Stereo DEH-P3800MP faceplate. I ordered the parts, and replacing them was easy. @Whuntmore thanks for the info. i figure going to buy a 3900 faceplate on ebay to get the AUX instead of buying the whole thing.
@fenix0green: I have no idea, but I have my doubts. Most of the time, you can’t swap face plates even if it’s the same model, otherwise it wouldn’t be a security feature.
can i put a deh-p3900mp on a deh-p3800mp faceplate since the 3900 has the AUX and my 3800 does not. will it work?

I have a different brand, but my faceplate is messing up so I’m going to do what you did to see if that works. Nice instructional video.
@Whuntmore Nice job on the display repair! i’ve been working on a Blaupunkt with a similar problem. Stereo works fine, but nothing on the LCD. I’ve checked every pin on the connector with a DVM, looked for cold solder joints, and even took the faceplate apart. . . but stopped short at the idea of disassembling the display. I had no idea it that easy. Your video is just the insiration i need
@gibnihtmus: It might not show on the site, but depending how old the stereo is, if you call the #, they may still sell it. Also, I believe they will sell the whole face plate – But I’m not sure of the process (considering theft) so you’ll have to find out yourself.
Usually it’s either a cracked LCD, or a bad PC board – Either can usually be ordered. GL.
@Whuntmore I have a pioneer deh-p7300. I have the same problem as you did. but im not sure if its cracked.
I also checked the site for replacement lcds but they dont sell them.
are there any other alternatives besides buying another faceplate or headunit?
@frederickt: Good luck on it, and hope your faceplate is as easy to work on as my Pioneer was. also check to see if there’s others online who have posted this problem, if yes then this could be some kind of recall – because that’s not normal.
I got a Kenwood detachable faceplate, LCD is burned out unbelieveably. Theres a burn mark at the bottom left of it. I might try this. Sucks guessing what the thing is doing with no readout.

Not without looking at it. Is it new? Can you return it? I’d check connectors, the actual LCD, how the faceplate is seating, is the LCD seating right, the rubber connector to the LCD… etc. Stuff like that. check the easy things first. Otherwise, I’m not sure.
hi..i have a pioneer deh 2000 mp..i can play my music and everything but for some reason the screen doesnt work..it isnt cracked..it simply doesnt show anything..the light of the volume and other bottons does start but the lcd screen is blank…any idea whats up?
I don’t believe you can interchange the plates. Otherwise, what’s the use of having a detachable face for thief protection?
Call or email the pioneer service center (look at info) and you’ll be able to price one out. I’m sure the knob is replaceable.
I have a DEHP 7800 that has a broken knob.
Is the knob replaceable ??
If not, are there other model Pioneers that I can swap the faceplate out and use in the 7800 chassis ?

Pioneer of Canada. I’ve listed them and the USA contact info in my added info.
If it’s an older stereo then I think it’s similar. Not 100% sure.
I’ve seen a few models close to this one, and they are the same age, and the same fix.
You will have to call or write to Pioneer (check info for contact info)
