Using oscilloscope software to tune car audio system?

Can anyone provide me with details on using oscilloscope software plus my laptop to tune my car audio setup?

I have a head unit plus an amp and 12" subwoofer in the trunk, I’d like to be able to tune it using oscilloscope software but not sure what programs may be out there to do the job, and also not sure whether an ordinary PC microphone will be adequate or if I need something better?
